Coming Soon! - First Ever To Formally Pass UL 5800 Class 2 & Class 3 Containment Bags - Performance Level 1 (Total Containment Rating)

Accenture PED Safety Bags Coming Soon...

New containment bagsā€”first ever to formally pass UL 5800 Class 2 and Class 3: Performance Level 1/Total Containment!

Brimstone Fire Protection is pleased to announce...

We have co-developed with Accenture a new line of UL 5800 Class 2 and 3 lithium-ion fire containment bags. We are working hard to bring these new "Made In The USA" containment bags to market soon and we're proud Brimstone will be the only US based company authorized to sell them.

The Problem
Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops and are now prevalent on board aircraft. If these devices become overheated or catch fire, they can be extremely dangerous and force an emergency landing. Why? Because when a lithium-ion battery goes into thermal runaway, the fire, which can be intense and explosive, cannot be extinguished with waterā€”even when fully submergedā€”and toxic gases are released.

The Solution
The Accenture PED Safety Bag meets the highest standard of safety possibleā€”ensuring 100% containment of the threat. It is easy to use and doesnā€™t require additional intervention (such as the use of fire extinguishers). The double bag design contains flames, heat, and projectiles as well as harmful gases. The safety bag can also be used as a prevention tool to safely store PEDs without ruining the devices.

With the Accenture PED Safety Bag, crews will have an effective way to manage potential incidents, ensuring passenger and aircraft safety and avoiding delays or emergency landings.

Understanding the Class 2 and Class 3 ratings:

Proven Effectiveness!

The International Aircraft Materials & Systems Forum Meeting was held April 16-18, 2024 in Bremen, Germany, where the FAA presented important findings. They tested six different containment products for portable electronic devices, two of which were our UL 5800 Class 2 and Class 3 systems. Our containment kits (represented as Manufacturer B) were the only products to demonstrate 100% containment of smoke, flame, and debris.

Take a look at these slides from their presentation:

*Note: These FAA tests were conducted using our initial prototypes. Improvements were made ahead of our UL tests, where they formally verified that the exterior of the bags never exceeded temperatures above 183 F / 84 C (these max temps occurred on the exterior underside of the bag while the top exterior max temps never exceeded 131 F / 55 C).

Check out the difference for yourself:

The difference between our product and the others is remarkable when it comes to the ability to contain the threat. We encourage you to take a look at the FAAā€™s testing and presentation results yourself (line #27 on the linked report below) and watch the video of our UL 5800 bag (Manufacturer B) versus five other competitors' products.
